Board Consents To Aid Gravel Road Plans Countywide
A large gathering of farmers, township trustees, and county supervisors in the Greater Waterloo association rooms backed graveling as a road improvement, with hard surfacing deemed unnecessary now. The plan includes forming six township centroids to locate gravel pits and a fund to cover travel and tiling costs, while trustees may levy taxes to support local road work and organize a Bennington Township Good Roads association.

Ruth Herfurth Demonstrates Speed Typing at College
Miss Ruth Herfurth, last year’s typing champion, amazed Highland Business College students with rapid accurate finger work. Under R. F. Eklund’s direction she copied a random newspaper excerpt at 135 words per minute with no errors, then typed a business letter at 137 words per minute blindfolded. She then typed 224 words per minute while solving a new arithmetic problem, and, after a 15 second speed burst, reached 18 strokes per second for a 15 second interval. Herford cautioned balance between speed and accuracy and praised Herfurth’s achievement as a standout demonstration of typing skill.
