Merger of Farley Churches Consolidates Faithful Ties

In Farley Iowa on December 12 the Presbyterian and Methodist churches merged while keeping separate memberships. A single Sunday school Woman's Missionary Society and Aid Society form a unified structure with one minister and one church edifice for religious and educational work. One parsonage will host the resident minister, the other rented to fund the consolidated body. One church building may be used for community purposes likely the Presbyterian. Officers include Mrs. Lida Armstrong president and Mrs. Elizabeth Court vice president.

State College Hen Produces 826 Eggs in Four-Year Span

Ames Queen, a Rhode Island Red at lower State college, completed a four-year laying period with 826 eggs, a world record for the breed and age. A Leghorn hen at USDA, Laddory, laid 750 eggs in five years. Ames Queen laid five eggs in November but is molting and minus tail feathers.

Ames Queen the Poultry Record Breaker at College Fair

The Ames Queen, a five year old hen kept at the college poultry fair, molted late but quickly and laid again in February. She produced up to 29 eggs in a single month, with four years of totals: 228, 207, 198, and 183 eggs, averaging 206.5 per year. Trap nesting keeps precise production accounts, as witnesses note her intense output despite reticence when pressed.
