Bell Tragedy Recalled Murder in Cedar Falls
A Cedar Falls special recounts past killings by mothers driven by insanity. Mrs Bell of Mt Vernon township killed two young sons, echoing a thirty year old case of Mrs Fred Miller who died in hospital after killing her two daughters. The piece notes a similar tragedy and a hospital stay without realization of actions.

Mulberry Street Line Local Car Service Rejected
L S Cass, president of Waterloo Cedar Falls & Northern, argues a thirty minute local car service on Mulberry street is infeasible. He cites current interurban usage of forty four cars, no patronage to justify double tracking, prior losses during 1910 paving, and potential delays to Cedar Falls and interurban schedules. The council took no action.

City Council Awards Concrete Paving Bid After Protest
Property owners urged concrete paving on Wellington Eighth Ninth and Tenth streets but the Waterloo Iowa city council awarded the contract to Bryant Asphalt Company. The vote followed bids opened last evening after prior postponements due to Councilman Switzer's absence. Dewey opposed the award while Mayor Thompson and others pressed forward with the original asphalt plan. An ordinance establishing the treasurer's monthly fund apportionment among banks was adopted, shifting funds away from a prior all-bank deposit policy. The mayor and clerk were authorized to pursue a municipal skating rink maintenance arrangement with the river front commission and Ed Chapman if costs stay under fifty dollars monthly. The council will reconvene Friday December 20 to finalize the Christmas pay for city employees.
