Waterloo Larceny Defendant Arrested by Rockford Police

Dufford Johnson, 23, a black man, wanted on larceny charges for overcoats, was arrested in Rockford Illinois. He offered a $100 bill from a $400 roll to the arresting officer claiming it was his if allowed to flee. He will be returned for trial on shoplifting charges and was last jailed on November 16, 1927.

Mortnary Death Of 6 Year Old Mary Pappas At Home

Mary Pappas, six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Pappas of 1401 Falls Avenue, died at home at 5 p m yesterday after five days of double pneumonia. She was previously injured Aug 31 when struck by an automobile driven by James Smith of New Wartford Ia. She suffered bruises and a broken toe and had seemed to recover before contracting the illness that caused her death. Surviving are her parents and a younger sister. The baby is at the O Keefe Towne mortuary awaiting funeral arrangements. Funeral services for William M May will be held Saturday at 2 p m at the O Keefe Towne chapel and 2 30 p m at Walnut Street Baptist Church with Rev Warren L Sleeves officiating. Burial will be in Fairview.
