Normal schools urged in each Iowa county plan
Mason City December 7. F A Makannah president of the Iowa State Teachers Association and legislative committee member advocates creating normal schools in every county. The plan would have one county high school add a normal department funded by the state, with the county supplying space and equipment. Tuition from county students would finance two years of normal training under state inspection, after which graduates could teach in rural areas without further examination. Cerro Gordo County faces many teacher shortages. Mrs J J Owens of 1125 Washington St has gone to Kansas City to winter with her daughter Mrs Seth D Perkins.
