President Refused to Pay Railroad for Fifteen Extra Fares
Chicago dispatch reports President Coolidge declined paying for a private car and extra fares for a special train. Railroad officials demanded 96 dollars per day plus 15 extra fares for 15 persons, but the president would not pay when only 10 people could ride. An aide bought ordinary tickets to use a drawing room in a Pullman instead.
