Farmers seek equal purchasing power of dollar says Senator Bowman
Des Moines reports Senator Bowman of Black Hawk county urged a more equitable purchasing power for the dollar over lower interest rates. He criticized bankers and Iowa officials for failing to push real farm relief at the Chicago ag conference. Bowman cited farm losses in purchasing power from 1913-8 months of 1925 and called out unnamed bankers for concealing reasons banks failed. He contrasted farmers' high loan costs with stock buyers’ access to cheap money, arguing the farmer bears the burden even as Wall Street profits rise.
