Des Moines Orders Modern Bag Company to Stop Insurance Scheme
A state insurance department in Des Moines ordered the Modern Bag Company to discontinue a payroll deduction insurance plan of 14 a month from employees and to refund all funds paid. The action followed a complaint by WJ Adams of Valley Junction claiming the company was conducting an unlicensed insurance business. The company consented to stop and letters urged refunds to all affected workers. Adams had also filed charges against a foreman for operating an unlicensed insurance operation.
