Exemption Filing Urged for World War Veterans
Veterans of World War I and the Spanish-American War are advised to file exemption claims with county auditor F. W. Esher before September 1 to qualify for the soldiers tax exemption. Adjutant Karl V. West of the Becker-Chapman post and W. A. Burton of the Fred Willier camp caution that exemptions need annual renewal, and many veterans mistakenly believe a filed claim lasts a lifetime.

Auto mechanics program expands at East High
East high and junior high students returning to school will see a new concrete block building behind junior high for auto mechanics and sheet metal work. The one story 34 by 60 foot facility includes a cement floor and a side garage door for car access. About 60 boys are enrolled in the two auto mechanics classes, which were added two years ago and use hands on repair experience plus a textbook. J A Hoskins will oversee the studies after training at Stout Institute in Wisconsin. The sheet metal course is growing and will produce practical items such as matchboxes trays scoops tin cutters and bread pans for home use.
