Wolver ine 15 Far on road to extinction in Sierra Nevada
The Sierra Nevada wolverine, called the glutton of America, is described as near extinction in the high Sierras. Walter Fry of Sequoia National Park says man and the wolverine’s own gluttony threaten it. The animal, though not aggressive, fights fiercely when defending young and prey, and may destroy food stores and traps. Fry urges protection to prevent the extinction of this once formidable weasel.
