Hammill to succeed Kendall as governor in vacation
Des Moines report details John Hammill the lieutenant governor set to assume gubernatorial duties during Kendall's extended vacation. Hammill aligns with Kendall on agricultural legislation and department consolidation. The 47 year old son of English descent has a long political record including time in the senate and two terms as Hancock county attorney. He owns extensive northern Iowa farms and is active in Masonic and Eastern Star groups. Senator John Rice will carry senate duties in Hammill’s absence.
