Drought Forces Circus to Iowa Tour Change
Depressive business conditions and drought effects push Forepaugh and Sella Bros circus to reroute into smaller Iowa cities. It played Webster City Independence and West Union with good patronage. Independence reported adequate provisions for horses and personnel. Visitors from Waterloo traveled by auto. The period’s heat hurt circuses as Ringling Bros. reportedly lost sixty heavy baggage horses in a week.
