Firestone tires on unusual voyage from San Francisco
On August 14 the liner Nebraska sailed from the Golden Gate to New York via the Panama Canal. It is the first ship in history to carry a car from San Francisco to New York without rounding the Horn. The first automobile tires ever sent by water from San Francisco to New York depart on the same voyage, shipping from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. branch in San Francisco to the Akron factory in New York.
