Motorist Tax Burden Highlighted in AAA Call
The American Automobile Association urged Congress to repeal the motor vehicle excise tax citing four times as many people pay excise as income taxes. It notes 17.9 million registered vehicles and reports $122 million paid in excise taxes in 1924, with motorists bearing over $400 million in combined taxes yearly.
