Girl Travelers Tour 5400 Miles by Car for $45 Gas Bill

Misses Lillian H Holmes Genevieve Holman and Mary J L Gilchrist of Waterloo return from a five thousand four hundred mile trip visiting Canada and eastern states including New York Boston Atlantic City and Washington. They traveled alone taking turns driving and stayed with strangers. They praised eastern hospitality and found Iowa misperceived as wild cowboys. They visited Washingtons bureaus and hoped to see Lindbergh but missed him by hours. The trip cost 45 dollars for gasoline over mostly paved roads with four tire punctures and one blowout.
