Prisoner Vanishes From Court During Conference
Clarence Miller arraigned on an inebriety charge vanished from a court room at 10 15 a m while Sheriff Shores, County Attorney Hoxie and Judge Platt conferred in an adjoining room. Bloodhounds were frightened by the building and searches by auto and foot failed to locate him. Miller, said to be addicted to drugs, had been placed in custody overnight.

Escaped Defendant Sought by Sheriff With Bloodhounds
This afternoon the sheriff and deputies with bloodhounds search for Clar ence Miller who escaped from the courtroom. A boy saw a hatless man with a neckerchief wade into the river, board a boat toward Sedgwick’s Island, then drift toward the island. The vessel remains near the shore while Miller may have swum to the western bank. The trail may lead to the nude man’s vicinity. The Waterloo Tennis and Outing Association hosts a city tournament on new courts. top players are set to compete next week. Citizens’ Gas and Electric employees and their families plan a picnic.
