Power Farming Here in Iowa Says Gunn on Machinery
R M Gunn, a Black Hawk county farmer, champions power farming as the coming trend in agriculture. He cites a Tama county neighbor’s combine reducing labor hours by half, needing fewer teams, and less cooking during harvest of 300 acres, while noting difficulty finding hired men skilled in tractors and machines. He believes younger farmers raised with machinery will increasingly embrace farming, though attracting horsemen remains hard as speed rises and larger units dominate.
