Men of military age in county total 9800 strong
County assessors report 9800 men aged 18 to 45. If all were conscripted, an army would form a two mile long marching line in columns. Cedar Heights and Waterloo area supply many well known local leaders. Military lists are being copied at tax districts and sent to the adjutant general.
