Rotarian Picnic Triumph Despite Gloomy Weather
More than a hundred Rotarians and families enjoyed the annual picnic and field day at Rotary reserve despite overcast skies. Winners included Mrs Will Beyerstock in the ball tag contest, BE M Henderson in the fat race, and Eugene Ribbenstein in the boys pie eating contest. Supper ended activities with a ball game halted for meals and dancing to conclude the day.

Accidents Pile Up for Young Man in Oelwein
In Oelwein Iowa Alain Ntta endured a string of injuries over several days. A house fire forced him from his home and a stair fall sprained his ankle. An oil stove fire burned his arm as he tried to move the oil can. En route between Mason City and Charles City he rode back with three others from Clear Lake when their car rolled, leaving Strawn with a broken collarbone and burns. The other passengers escaped with minor injuries.
