Enforcement of Eighteenth Amendment Urged By Official
Iowa City speaker William R. Boyd urged strict national enforcement of the Eighteenth Amendment at the University of Town summer session. He warned that any reliance on a so called wine and beer law is a gold brick, arguing courts would strike it down. He said repeal efforts by New York and a governor are fallacies, and stressed that saloon revival would follow any loosening. He urged modifying the Woolstead act for foreign relations and a government controlled liquor supply, ending all talk of compromise.
