Iowa Woman Lands Major War Job in Aircraft Work
Miss Alde Wilson of Cedar Falls Iowa has been appointed government employment manager of the Nation Switch and Signal and Westernhouse Airbrake plant at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania with 9040 employees under her charge. The plant is producing airplanes for the government with an average output of 35 planes daily. She is a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College University of Iowa and University of Rochester and formerly directed in Spokane high schools. She is the daughter of John Wilson a pioneer Cedar Falls citizen.

Henry Propp Jr Escapes From Train While Being Returned
Waverly Iowa Aug 1 Last week word came Henry Propp Jr was arrested in London Canada Sheriff Krause left for the place to bring him back but near Lansing Mich he leaped from a moving train in underwear with handcuffs on. He was sought by Lansing authorities and later word said he would be brought to Waverly to face capture. This was his second escape after fleeing in Illinois and later from an auto theft charge in Waterloo. Propp had served in the Canadian army aviation corps and his credentials were discussed as possible fraud amid questions about his past.

Boyd Kline Dies at St. Paul Funeral at La Porte City
Funeral services for Boyd Kline were held at the M E church in Porte City with Rev. John Gammons officiating. He died after weeks of illness at St. Paul hospital. His three sons survived along with four brothers and one sister. Born June 17, 1861 in Lycoming County Pa, he moved to the area, married Mary Strayer in 1885, and worked as a mail carrier then traveling salesman with St. Paul headquarters.
