La Porte City Iowa April 30 the minstrel musical comedy presented by the women's auxiliary of the American Legion is nearly ready with 50 to 60 participants. Mrs Payden directs a cast including Mesdames Park Stewart Richardson Jamen Franklin Kling Golds Buser By Garrabrant Haire Bolte and many others. The show benefits the American Legion post and the program lists numerous local women and girls as performers.

Frank Richter and Irvin L. Jeffery were arrested on federal charges of transporting liquor in an automobile. They appeared before U.S. Commissioner J. J. Dempster and were held in the county jail on $1,500 bonds each. Trial set for May 11 at 10 a.m. before Commissioner Dempster. They were arraigned in municipal court on illegal transportation charges. bonds fixed at $500. Hearings continued to May 3.
