Police Crackdown Seizes Dozens of Cars With Old Numbers
Police launched a crusade against automobile drivers using 1912 or older numbers and within hours about four score violators were taken into custody. Some motorists showed receipts proving payment to the secretary of state, but no response was received. Delays stem from sold cars and unreported transfers plus office delays. Officers will arrest every auto driver using an old number.
No Prosecution Likely Without Receipt for Auto Funds
Statement suggests probable no prosecution since auto owners must show a receipt proving money sent to the secretary. The claim hinges on documented receipt as key evidence to pursue charges or justify action.
