Woman Leader of Youths Arrest Sparks Debate
Riley Downs, 16, was arrested on a charge of stealing a watch from Mrs Grace Cole of 209 Manson Street. He pleaded guilty in police court after testimony about visits to Cole’s home by several youths. The case was dismissed after the judge found insufficient proof the woman owner committed theft amid broader social concerns voiced by Mrs Anna Grey.
