Iowa Passes Strict Banking Law For Small Town Banks
Des Moines reports a new Iowa banking law setting minimum capitalization by town size, with 3 000 or fewer residents at 25000 dollars and higher populations at 50000 or 100000 dollars. It requires a 20 percent surplus, limits dividend payments, sets director stock holdings, imposes loan and officer rules, and outlines penalties for false bank reports.
