Sioux City mayor faced recall over I W W stance
April 23 Sioux City residents moved to recall Mayor Wallace M. Short over alleged support for the I W W. A recall committee will push resignations and nominate a rival, with petitions to circulate. The push follows Short’s reception of the I W W at a national convention, provoking threats from labor, business, and stockyard representatives to eject the group and oust the mayor.
