City council delayed action on a proposed Sunday closing ordinance for 20 shining parlors after heated talks. The ordinance panel will draft relief for future consideration as street and alley committee weighs cement sidewalk contracts and areaway bracing to prevent cave-ins and lawsuits.
Mitchell County has gone far over in the third liberty loan subscriptions and all townships in the county oversubscribed. The county was allotted 465000 dollars but last reports show 858150, or 237 percent of the allotment, from 3295 subscribers.
Mayor R C Thompson and the council approved Wilbur ff. Glaw as clerk of the new municipal court and named a bailiff after John N. Sweitzer’s police judge post was cleared.
