Butler Woman of 85 Impresses With Youthful Spirit
An 85 year old Clarksville resident, Mrs. George Smith, is praised by C. A. Lewis for her vitality and memory. Lewis recounted a walk four to five blocks with her and vivid recollections from 70 years past, including 1855 and 1858 events. He notes her husband died two years ago and she lives with a daughter on a small farm near Clarksville. Nearby reminiscences describe Barclay township pioneers and early settler life. In Centerville a late April storm dropped two inches of rain, caused wind damage, and disrupted communications across Appanoose county.
