Manufactures Grow in Exports Surging in 1923 Trade Data
New York April 19 Increased activity by American manufacturers shows a 20 percent rise in exports and a 32 percent jump in imports of manufacturing materials when compared with a year earlier. The Trade Record of the National City Bank of New York notes January 1923 exports and December 1922 imports, predicting the fiscal year ending June will top $1.75 billion in manufactured exports. The growth suggests exports of manufactures will be far above prewar levels and that manufacturing shares of total exports have increased as population demands more factory goods.
