In Chicago on April 19 Judge Fudge Graham dismissed the charge of disorderly conduct against Prof. William Isaac Thomas and Mrs. R. M. Granger. Defense attorney Clarence Darrow argued that their being found together in a hotel room did not prove disorderly conduct.
Committee Seizes Seed Corn From Farmer in Cedar Balls
A vigilance committee of twenty visited Stephen Bonn after 1918 seed corn was found on his farm. Bonn had padlocked doors earlier and resisted seed commandeering. He calmed as crib was opened and the committee claimed the corn at two dollars per bushel. An advertisement for Chase's spring opening followed.

Des Moines April 19 special Waterloo lawyer W W Woolley collapsed of heart failure in the Savery hotel annex during a conversation with Senator H W Grout. He was 46, a noted orator and war relief supporter. His body was returned to Waterloo for burial, with widow and daughter Virginia among survivors.
