F A Winslow has let a contract for a bungalow on the rear of his 308 Mullan avenue lot. Work will begin next week. He also contemplates a three story apartment building on the front of the same lot with contractors now calculating costs.
Four Waterloo building and loan associations have issued 104 loans totaling $159,675 since January 1, 1913. The volume of new and remodeled residences indicates strong city growth and the schemes encourage thrift by letting borrowers build equity and avoid rent. Officers of the Waterloo Building & Loan, People’s Building & Loan, Perpetual Building & Loan, and Home Building & Loan associations are listed with presidents, secretaries, and treasurers.
Work continues on Western avenue from Kimwood to Leland through Conger Park addition. Most curbing added this week. concrete bed to be laid after roadbed excavation. Binder course and surfacing will be asphalt. The project will make Western avenue an inviting drive.
