Masonic Temple Lands Option to YWCA at Park Site
The Masonic Temple association in Waterloo agrees to an option with the Young Women's Christian Association to sell the 60 by 120 foot site at Park Avenue and Sycamore Street for 55 000. The option runs to July 4 1913 with staged payments and a leaseback for Masons until 1914. The YWCA must maintain an association in the building for at least ten years while the Masons retain quarters until 1914 at 100 dollars monthly rent. The planned temple would cost 100 000 to 150 000, with two lodge rooms and a large organ, and the project reflects strong Masonic finances and growth.
