Two Year Tax Rate Instate May Be Put At Mills
Des Moines April 16 Special As the legislature nears adjournment final action will push the state tax levy to about 10 mills from 9.36 as funds for the General Education Board and Rockefeller Foundation gift to the medical college are added. Most other appropriations stay near current levels. Revenue measures mostly failed including state income tax and corporate tax proposals. The gasoline tax bill passes the Senate but likely fails in the House, while the Tuck and Fackler road bills promise mixed effects on county and road funding. Per capita school tax plans were defeated, and local tax relief remains uncertain as adjournment approaches.
