Synagog Losing Hold on People Not Here in Waterloo
Waterloo will not be represented at the National Convention of the United Synagog of America in Chicago in May. Local directors from the Congregation Sons of Jacob urge that danger of the synagog being divorced from the Jewish community is overstated. Jacob Cohn says the Waterloo synagogue remains central to local life and that fears are less in small communities than in large cities where Reform temples erode influence. Nearly 1,000 delegates are expected at the convention, linked with Werner's Tongue meeting of the United Synagog.

Change Will Be Sought in M. E. Marriage Code
Chicago April 14 The Northwest Iowa conference delegation will ask the Methodist Episcopal general conference in Kansas City May 1 to strike out the words and first miracle he wrought from the order for the solemnization of matrimony. They argue the gospel narrative shows a significant incident, not a miracle, and Greek terms do not support the word miracle.
