Council plans Monday vote after sale approval
The council sees no obstacle to a Monday afternoon vote following the sale. The General Assembly notes 14,550 applications are now on file. The next step is securing funds to begin payments. At present 14,650 bonus warrants have been approved, averaging 206 dollars each. If presented for payment at once, about 3 million dollars would be needed. Officials expect this money to be available within two or three days after the sale. Then warrants must be dated, a lengthy but rapid process per State Auditor Glen C. Maynes, with full office cooperation to minimize delay before services commence.

Red Harris’s Arizona to Los Angeles Motor Tale
Kingman locals recall Red Harris visiting Los Angeles and finding city life different from Arizona. He drove his own car along desert roads, then hit smooth paved highways into the city and found it hard to adapt. He inquired at a garage for a taxicab, noting the city’s parade of automobiles and the noisy streets around him. A police officer eventually moved Harris’s car through a crowded area.
