French Children Appreciate Books in War Ravaged Areas
French children traumatized by five years of war regain interest through illustrated books from the American Library Association. The effort, started in 1917 with cooperation from the American Committee for Reconstruction of Devasted France and Red Cross, uses children libraries in community houses, with French personnel under American standards. Maria C. Brace chairs the local book collection committee as schools clubs and civic bodies assist.
