Covered Wagon Pioneer Dies At 74 In Waterloo
Hiram M. Beckley 74 who came to Black Hawk county in a covered wagon in 1854 died at 4 45 p m in a local hospital after long ailments. He farmed in Orange township before retiring 12 years ago and moving to Waterloo. Born September 20 1872 in Somerset County Pennsylvania he married Mary Hostetler in 1876 in Strange township. Surviving are his widow two sons A H Beckley and Carl O Beckley three brothers Norman Iran Myron and a sister Mrs Joseph Steele four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
