East High enters two Drake relays events in Des Moines
East High track team will compete in two events at the Drake relays in Des Moines on April 20 and 24. Coach John Ifeld says East will run 440 yard and half mile races for Class B, with Class C entry based on enrollment. The same four runners Fowler Harris Sherburne and Demmel will compete in both events, with Thomas Son Gary of Ghostin on standby if needed. A single meet remains scheduled for April 17 before larger meets start, with Waterloo relay games and Cedar Valley meet at Waverly among others on the docket. Also noted is the death of Rev S V Williams sister Elizabeth Lonnsbury in Chicago. Williams recalled from Chicago, wife hospitalized.
