West Liberty on April 6 reports Ward Chase a Boy Scout narrowly escaped drowning after being pinned beneath a heavy log and buried under water. H Archibald, cashier of the People's Bank, directed the rescue, lifting the log while others pulled him from the perilous spot. Chase and a companion rolled the log to form a crossing, but the timber dragged Chase down the bank where he was partially unconscious upon rescue.
