In Kansas City on April 6 Mrs S B Armour widow of Si meon Armour Jr. reported a theft of stocks and jewelry worth about 199 004 from a safety deposit box in the city. Most items were recovered for Mrs Armour and prosecutions are expected. Advisers refused to name the guilty person. Purchases traced to the money included jewelry and other goods sold for Mrs Armour’s benefit.
Marshalltown Iowa April 6 union painters and paper hangers ended a strike begun April 1 over pay at 40 cents an hour and an eight hour day. Employers signed the wage scale saying they lose money on prior contracts but that future public work will bear the higher wages.
A bank shortage of nearly $20,000 is reported at Vincent Savings Bank in Vincent Indiana. Cashier George C. Anderson vanished after handing over deeds as directors suspect bad security loans. Depositors are protected by a $25,000 stockholder note. Anderson is not believed dishonest, merely careless with loans to his brother who is in Canada. A second note mentions conductors and a testimonial for Foley’s Kidney Remedy.
Within Black Hawk County Iowa in May Term 1911 Ethel D Wyman plaintiff seeks divorce from John Wyman on grounds of cruel and inhumane treatment habitual drunkenness and adultery The notice warns defendant to appear by noon on May 9 1911 at Waterloo court house or default will be entered Attorneys Feely Feely for the plaintiff.
