Thinks Hospital Extravagance Provokes County Protest
C B Kellogg recounts seventeen weeks at the Knoxville inebriacy hospital and argues the treatment does not cure liquor habit. He urges state intervention and questions the institution’s expense to the county, noting inmates’ warmth as motive for some commitments. He sent a critical letter March 15 detailing his charges. The board may hear requests to preserve county farm acreage for an experiment station and consider loan approvals by the People’s Mutual Building and Loan association for new homes and improvements.
