Justices Protest New Court Plans In Waterloo
Four justices of the peace in Waterloo joined county attorney B J Wenner in asking the attorney general for an opinion on whether the governor can appoint a judge for the new municipal court to fill a vacancy. They contend the governor has no legal right and that the office remains vacant until the 1920 spring election. The Waterloo Bar endorsed Willis N Birdsall for appointment, and W R Law certified election results establishing the court. There is ongoing work on 26 federal aid projects in Iowa with varying progress. Project No 1 to pave Mason City to Clear Lake began after initial work. Project No 2 in Woodbury county awaits federal requirements. Black Hawk project timing remains uncertain but work aims to start this season.
