Bill Would Give Black Hawk County Two Reps and a Senator

Des Moines IA April 3 Special If the two redistricting bills pass Black Hawk county would gain two representatives and a senator. Grout backs a two representative plan while Hutchins promotes a Black Hawk senator. Fate rests with the senate committee led by Senator De Wolf. The Grundy change to join Marshall could face opposition from De Wolf who has held Grundy in the senate. The bills face short adjournment time and may be swept aside. The legislature also moved to kill several temperance measures amid a flood of “wet” sentiment. The five mile limit near institutions was weakened to bar saloons near schools, aiding Iowa City opposition. The anti treating bill and daylight hours bill were also killed as adjournment approached.
