Roads in Delaware and Buchanan Now Passable in Places
Manchester Iowa April 1 Roads in this section were slightly improved but are still heavy and treacherous. Primary 13 north to Edgewood can be traversed, but continuing south to Cedar Rapids is almost impassable. On Primary 20 east and west, the large sink hole this side of Winthrop has been planked and sand hauled in this week. It can be traversed with care. Several cars have been mired there recently. From Masonville to Manchester the graveled road is in fair shape and east through town for several miles but is still treacherous east of Earlville. Optimistic motorists head to Dubuque, but it is slow and laborious. Horse-drawn hearses are used on country trips and rural routes still rely on horses. Road dragging is being done where possible.
