Five Die in Westchester Mansion Fire Burned Husband Sacrificed Self
Westchester New York May 8 five people perished in a blaze that destroyed the Bowne mansion. Watson Bowne his wife their three children two servant girls and Bowne's mother died as the house burned. Bowne was severely burned rescuing his wife and infant from a garret fire as flames spread through the oak structure. The fire burned for hours and claimed the elderly Mrs Bowne and both Dunn sisters in separate rooms. The bowne home stood a century old and burned to ashes.
