They invite viewing even without purchase and highlight low spring prices on parlor and chamber suits plus baby carriages. Delivery to country free.
In a five hour Linegan chamber session the Nebraska Supreme Court declares ex Gov Thayer entitled to the seat and ousts Gov Boyd on grounds he was not a citizen at election. The decision revokes Boyd acts funding relief andWorlds Fair appropriations, causing chaos over appointments and legal challenges.
New York May 6 opening of Music Hall Andrew Carnegie’s palace of music drew a crowded audience in the Seventh avenue and 57th street structure. Secretary Blaine attended with his wife and Mrs Walter Damrosch in a box near Mr and Mrs Carnegie. The opening program began with Old Hundred as nearly 500 voices joined in the chorus.
A midnight fire destroyed properties on Seventh street including the Pittsburg Female College and Christ Methodist Church. The City Health Bureau, Cold Storage Company, and Grocers' Supply were burned. The entire fire department battled the blaze. 60 boarders at the Female College saved their belongings and were housed at the Home Hotel. Total losses exceed $1,000,000.
Ida Bervoort a concert hall singer at Excelsior Hall in New York was shot and killed by her lover Wilbur Schoor just before midnight. The murderer shot himself in the temple and died, jealousy cited as the motive.
