New England Train Plows Through Northampton Freight at Plainville

A heavy New England freight crashed into a Northampton freight across the New England track at Plainville yesterday afternoon at 4. The impact tore a car onto the Plainville depot platform and wrecked two others. The New England engine became wedged in the wreck and tracks remained blocked for hours. All aboard escaped injury. Conductor King and Engineer Noonan led the New England train. Conductor Dinsmore’s Hartford run arrived late, delaying the 5:50 pm westbound. Signal visibility hindered by curve and covered bridge.
