Waterbury Woman Arrested For Shoplifting In Hartford

Emma Pratt of Waterbury was arrested in G Fox & Co Hartford for stealing a $17 skunk muff. She was seen placing the item under her cloak by a floor walker and later searched without further contraband found. Pratt claimed no prior arrests and cited nervousness as motive.

Military Retiring Board Continues Hearings At Capitol

The secret military retiring board hearing was continued at the capitol yesterday because many witnesses were summoned. Witnesses included Captain H W Keeney Captain A B Smith Captain W Y King Lieutenant N G Valentine Lieutenant W J Rawlings and Colonel Charles L Burdett. They testified to counter a report that Lieutenant-Colonel Thompson was absent from camp during a camp week. The session ran until 6 pm and will reconvene at 9 am with additional witnesses to be examined. The board aims to conclude the Thompson case by noon today unless adjournment is taken for further testimony requested by Thompson.
