From St Petersburg to Fokio and other dispatches the latest war reports describe continued Japanese pressure in Manchuria. Russian forces suffer in renewed engagements near Sevastopol and Liaoyang, with torpedo boat actions and heavy casualties amid brutal fighting.
A ration for growing pigs uses two parts shorts and three parts corn and may allow substitution with tankage three parts for the feed when available. Tankage, a high value packing-house product, complements corn for better growth. As pigs mature, adjust corn content and ensure ample protein to build bone and frame, pushing toward maturity rapidly.

Four men died and four survived after an explosion and fire on a Standard Oil barge off Long Branch New Jersey Sunday evening. The barge carried 21 000 barrels or about 1 000 000 gallons of oil. Captain G P Stokes A Sale engineer Al Brandt and an unknown sailor perished. The four survivors were rescued by the tug Standard and rushed to a New York hospital with severe burns. The cause of the blast remains unexplained as crews toiled to control the blaze and recover the wreckage.
Washington December hearings recount Apostle John Henry Smith of the Mormon Church being cross examined by A B Worthington. Smith confirms knowledge of A M McDonald and denies plural marriages after alleged reports in Mexico. He also denies church ownership of party-ticket influence, contrasting the testimony of Charles H. Jackson regarding political revelations.
The Conestoga arrived in New London with two of three tow barges and a broken rudder stock. The Reading railroad barge Albertus, laden with 1700 tons of coal, ran ashore off Fisher's Island after a rudder failure. Captain Forrest said wrecker Scott and crew plan to refloat Albertus as thirteen feet of water remains. An agent for Reading Co travels to arrange release.

Two workers were badly burned in an explosion and taken to the city hospital in doubtful condition. Fire under control by 9 30 a.m. Loss about 20000. C N Anderson seriously burned but expected to recover. J B Stanley lightly injured.
The Boston schooner Lizzie H Brayton remains aground on the outer bar near Bay Head New Jersey after striking yesterday. Two large wrecking steamers wait for a chance to refloat her while eight crew rescued by life savers report no lasting injuries. Built in 1901 at Bath Maine the Brayton was en route from Baltimore to Providence with coal.
Arthur Disbrow, a prominent local farmer, was attacked yesterday in a cattle barn stall. He watered the bull, which rushed him, goring his thigh with a horn before he subdued the animal by gripping a ring in its nose and escaped.
