Trans-Atlantic steamship cuts steerage traffic and rates

The North Atlantic Steamship Association announced after U S immigration reforms it will carry only saloon and second class passengers from January 1 1898. It will reduce sailings, raise saloon and second cabin rates, and cancel all Chicago Columbian Exhibition excursion rates. The move pleases Canadian officials and shipping interests but risks dropping foreign visitors to the World’s Fair.

Waterloi Hospital Incorporators Elect Officers
